I have a collection of OTBT boots through Athleta and am now extending my collection into their shoes and sandals. I'm a solid size 7 almost all the time and it's rare for me to have an issue with shoes being too narrow/too wide. If anything I size up to a 7.5 where required. The OTBT boots definitely have a tendency to run small, and I do a 7.5 in those so socks/tights have a chance of fitting. Before reading all the reviews I was going to do the same with these shoes, maybe get one in both size 7 and 7.5 to see how it went. The ones I'm looking at are called Bottle colored, basically dark green leather worked with floral scrolls, black strap. After reading all the reviews to size down I did so, and have now gone through 3 sizes...and size 7 is still a smidge tight around the toe-knuckle area (where the lip of the shoe ends and the top of your foot begins, or where the metatarsal bones start) if I want to keep the option open to find the right colored tights to pair with a dress with these for colder weather (might sound hideous but I actually think black would look darling with the right knit dress). This is basically the exact same narrow trouble area the boots have. I've just ordered a 7.5 to compare with the 7. Here's the thing: the 7 is ok, my foot doesn't budge a millimeter while walking around because there's that length of elastic under the inner ankle wrangling your heel in from going anywhere. Like the OTBT boots, the shoe is a narrower shoe, as shoes go. My heel has a good amount of space before it gets near to bulging over the edge, because that elastic strap is pulling your heel forward so firmly. I'm considering that this shoe will wear in, the elastic strap and the front lip both may loosen up a bit to a perfect fit, but right now I feel like if I walked around in them for more than 2 hours I'd get blisters because my foot is so firmly lodged by the whole design structure. I don't get blisters with their boots (in 7.5).Not sure yet what to do, I'll wait for the 7.5 to come in. I'm actually having a similar experience with their Sheffield model, too, right now. I've got a 3rd size coming because I've been reading all the bogus reviews on here to size down and the whole time I should have just been keeping to my normal sizing with the added consideration for the fact that OTBT designs for a daintier foot (you're not going to get wide hobbit feet in an OTBT shoe). For the likes: you can see it's a lovely design, just darling. The foot bed is wondrously cozy. The green color is exactly as pictured and very cute, I'm already planning out which of my Athleta knit dresses I can pair it with. As for the quality I'm wondering if I'm going to encounter the sole of the heel detaching like other reviewers had; examining the quality in that area I guess I could imagine that happening, though they look fine to begin with. I'll be calling OTBT right up if that's the case. But I hope these beautiful shoes stay in tact and live a long life...once I can get the right size sussed out.
